Technical Rescue Team. The Technical Rescue Team shall consist of up to six (6) employees. The position shall not be considered a promotion, but will be offered to employees on a voluntary basis in order of seniority. Consideration will also be given to employees already possessing training. Increasing the number of members on the team above the six (6) person threshold shall be at the discretion of the Department’s administration. Once an employee successfully completes the training and is assigned to the team, the employee must commit to three (3) years. A stipend of one point five percent (1.5%) of an employee’s base pay will be paid to each member in the last pay of November each year. The stipend begins after assignment to the Team upon completion of the required certifications. Stipend payments are prorated to the November pay date. Members of the Technical Rescue Team are required to be certified in the following: Confined Space Operation, Rope Rescue Operations, Building Collapse Operations, and Trench Rescue Operations. Members of the Technical Rescue Team shall pursue membership on the Macomb County technical rescue team and shall remain an active member for their three (3) year commitment. To receive the Team stipend, each member will be required to participate in fifty percent (50%) of the scheduled yearly trainings. A member of the Team shall be assigned as the Team Leader. Responsibilities for the position will be outlined in a departmental SOP. Team Leader will receive an additional one-half percent (.5%) of base pay.
