The Audit Authority. a) The audit authority shall be designated by the Beneficiary and shall be functionally independent from all actors in the management and control system and comply with internationally accepted audit standards. b) The audit authority shall be responsible for the verification of the effective and sound functioning of the management and control systems. c) The audit authority, under the responsibility of its head, shall in particular fulfil the following functions and assume the following responsibilities:
