Teachers employed less than 7 ½ hours per day during the regular school year and teachers employed on additional contracts or for curriculum development projects or special training/staff development projects shall be paid an hourly rate in accordance with their position on the Placement Schedule. Instructional Personnel Compensation: In accordance with State Statute, beginning July 1, 2014 all instructional personnel must receive an Effective or Highly Effective performance evaluation rating in order to qualify for a salary increase. Such salary increases are not automatic and they are not necessarily a movement from one level on the Placement Schedule to another. Teachers adding an endorsement or certification to their Teacher Certification in a subject area the District has declared a critical shortage (listed above) will receive a one-time bonus of $1,000 provided they complete a school year (as defined by the Florida retirement system rules) teaching in the critical shortage area and obtain an Effective or higher rating on his/her Instructional Practice and Deliberate Practice. This will not be retroactive for those teachers already having such certification/endorsement. 2. Teachers certified in fields identified by Bay District Schools as critical shortage areas may be paid a one-time new hire bonus of $5,000 provided they complete a school year (as defined by Florida Retirement System rules), teach in the critical shortage area, and obtain an “Effective” or higher rating on his/her Instructional Practice and Deliberate Practice. Teachers may receive this bonus only one time in any single certification in their teaching career with Bay District Schools. Once Certification Reimbursement Process is completed, the District will pay the certification test fees for the addition of ESOL and/or Gifted subject area/endorsements to the teaching certificate. For 2017-18 & 2018-19 the Board will implement a bonus plan for turnaround schools as outlined below. For the 2018-19 school year, the total amount of the bonuses will not exceed $400,000. If the total amount for these bonuses exceeds $400,000 for the year, there will be prorated reductions to each bonus in order not to exceed the $400,000 cap. Part A – Classroom Teachers that Transfer to Schools Implementing Turnaround Plans If a classroom teacher, as defined and qualified below, volunteers, signs transfer paper and is selected by the principal and approved by the Superintendent to move to a qualified school by September 15th, unless the transfer is necessitated by state requirements, he/she will receive a yearly bonus of up to $10,000.00 (as prorated per amount budgeted – See above ‘cap’). The bonus will be paid over the course of the school year in equal installments as long as the teacher remains employed at qualifying school. The bonus amount will be pro-rated based on the number of days the teacher works at the qualifying school. The Direct single year student growth measure will be calculated based on the most recent year reported and available at the time of the transfer. Classroom teachers are staff members assigned the professional activity of instructing students in courses in classroom situations, including basic instruction, exceptional student education, career education, and adult education…. Classroom Teacher Qualifications: ● Must hold a current in-field temporary or professional teaching certificate • Must be cleared of allegations before any bonus money will be awarded if currently under investigation by Professional Practices ● Must not have previously been sanctioned by Professional Practices for an academic infraction ● Must have a minimum of 6 students tested in qualifying area ● Must have an overall evaluation score of HE/E for the most recent year reported Yearly Bonus is as follows: • $10,000.00: Teacher has a Direct single year student growth measure (Standardized VAM/K-2 MAP/FSA3/SSA Science) that is Highly Effective for the most recent year reported and the total student growth/achievement is HE/E. • $7,500.00: Teacher has a Direct single year student growth measure (Standardized VAM/K-2 MAP/FSA3/SSA Science) that is Effective for the most recent year reported and the total student growth/achievement is HE/E. based on the growth measurement with the largest number of students attached as long as no Direct single year student growth measure is NI or U for the most recent year reported. ° If multiple student growth measures are assigned with the same number of students attached to each, the bonus amount will default to the highest award value as long as no Direct single year student growth measure is NI or U for the most recent year reported. ° Any Direct single year student growth measurement of NI or U for the most recent year reported, regardless of the number of students attached, disqualifies the classroom teacher from receiving the performance pay bonus. In the event that a situation warrants the examination of additional documentation, the Superintendent or his/her designee may review Roster Verifications, class lists, FOCUS data, etc. to determine eligibility prior to the release of any bonus. At the recommendation of the Superintendent and the approval of the Board, schools previously implementing turnaround plans that are removed from the state list based on improved academic performance may be granted continued eligibility for one additional year.
