Training Guidelines. When the City has given notice to an employee that a layoff is pending, involving that employee’s position, the City will take reasonable steps to provide a basic training or orientation process which would provide the employee with knowledge and skill which could be used to assist the employee in applying for promotion or transfer to a vacant, budgeted position for which the employee possesses the basic knowledge, skills and abilities or for which the employee can acquire said knowledge, abilities and skills within the sixty (60) day written layoff notice period.
