Common use of Transfer to Casual Status Clause in Contracts

Transfer to Casual Status. (a) Regular employees may relinquish their regular position and request a transfer to casual status. (b) The Labour Management Committee shall be made aware of requests that are approved under this clause. The Labour Management Committee shall also be made aware of the status of the vacant regular position that is created through such a request. (c) Regular employees who transfer to casual status shall be entitled to only those benefits available to casual employees. Accrued vacation, banked overtime and banked stat holiday hours shall be paid out upon transfer to casual status. Accrued sick leave credits will be frozen and reinstated upon return to regular or temporary status. Regular employees who transfer to casual status shall continue to accrue seniority with no break in service.
