TRANSFERS AND CHANGES IN ASSIGNMENT. 17.1 A transfer is a change in teaching position from one work location to another. A transfer is also any change which would cause a teacher to teach any part of the day at a different 17.2 Principals shall keep their faculties informed as to vacant positions in their schools by posting such vacancies at the teacher sign-in location. Teachers who would like to change from grade and/or subject assignment within a school shall file a written statement of such desire with the principal. The principal shall consider all such requests and make a decision as to the change based on the teacher's qualification, certification, and educational program of the school. The principal will give written notification of his/her decision to each teacher who has filed a written request. 17.3 All changes in assignment should be voluntary; however, the principal may make changes in teacher assignments at his/her own discretion when he/she deems it to be in the best interest of students, faculty, and educational program of the school. Such assignment changes may not cause a teacher to work out-of-field. When such assignments occur, if requested, the reason(s) for the assignment shall be given in writing. Providing a reason will in no way limit the principal's discretion in making such assignments. Such reassignments shall not be used as a punitive measure. Any teacher being involuntarily reassigned shall not be deprived of his/her contractual salary for the remainder of the contract year.
