UNION STEWARDS AND COMMITTEES. 8.01 The Union may choose twenty (20) stewards who must have seniority status to assist in processing grievances as outlined under the grievance procedure. UNION STEWARDS AND COMMITTEES. 8.01 The 3.01 No individual employee or group of employees shall undertake to represent the Union at meetings with the Employer without proper authorization of the Union. In order that this may be carried out, the Union will supply the Employer with the names of its Representatives. Similarly, the Employer will supply the Union with a list of its supervisory or other personnel with whom the Union may choose twenty (20) stewards be required to transact business.
3.02 The bargaining unit employees have the right, to have the assistance of a Representative of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union or its International affiliates when dealing with the Employer. Such Representatives shall have reasonable access to the Employer’s premises for the meetings and servicing of its members.
3.03 Any employee who must so desires it, shall have seniority status the right to assist review their own personnel record upon making a request for same in processing grievances advance. Such review is to take place at such time and place within the unit as outlined under the grievance procedure. This number may be adjusted designated by mutual agreement between Management. If any employee so affected objects to the Company material contained in such record such objection may be made the subject matter of a grievance and be processed in accordance with the Unionprovisions of Article 7 and Article 8 herein. Times designated by Management will be reasonable.

8.04 The Company shall be notified Employer in writing by the proper officials of the Union the names of the stewards and the committee members, and of any changes in same, before the Company will recognize them.
8.05 It is agreed that during working hours the discussions of grievances between stewards and employees will, as far as is practical, be kept to a minimum.
8.06 If it is necessary for a each ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and, where applicable, each Committee member, before Management shall be required to recognize any person so selected.
(c) The Union acknowledges that the Stewards have regular duties to perform on behalf of the Employer and may not leave their regular duties during classroom time. Each ▇, committee member or other employee to take time off ▇▇▇▇▇▇ may perform ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ duties during working hours in connection outside of classroom time for a reasonable length of time without loss of pay.
3.05 On commencing employment, the employee’s immediate supervisor shall introduce the new employee to the Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ who will provide the new employee with a copy of the Collective Agreement. Orientation session for new employees will include presentation by Management and Union business, he/she must obtain permission from bargaining agent or his/her immediate supervisor. Such permission shall not unreasonably be withheld. One member of the Union Executive shall be designated to conduct joint union management activities. Such individual shall be entitled to time off under this articledesignate.

20.02 A Union Grievance Committee may be set up on an ad hoc basis for each grievance where such a committee member is required. Unless otherwise agreed, it shall be made up of not more than three (3) employees selected by the Union from the members of the bargaining unit, provided such members have completed their probationary period. It is further understood for the purposes of this clause that neither the grievor nor the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ are deemed to be members of the Committee.
20.03 The Union may appoint a committee of not more than seven (7) of its Local members who have completed their probationary period to deal with the University on matters concerning the renewal or other employee renegotiation of this Collective Agreement. Every effort will be made to take time off ensure that the seven (7) members represent a cross-section of the different areas within the bargaining unit.
(a) It is understood that a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or Committee person has regular work to perform and that if it is necessary to service a grievance during working hours in connection with Union businesshours, he/she must obtain they will not leave their work without first obtaining the permission from his/her of the immediate supervisor. Such permission supervisor which shall not be unreasonably be withheld. One member They shall state the destination to the immediate supervisor and shall report again to the supervisor at the time of their return to work.
(b) The Union will make every reasonable effort to ensure that union or committee activities are distributed amongst ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and/or committee persons in a manner as to minimize the strain on any one (1) operational unit.
20.05 The Union Executive will submit in writing to the Director of Staff Relations annually, on or around December 1st the names, positions, and immediate supervisors, of its Local Executive, Stewards and Committee members, and any revisions as and when required. The effective date of appointment shall be designated included in such notification.
20.06 Where a grievance must be serviced or where meetings between Union and University officials take place during an employee’s scheduled working hours, the employee shall be paid their basic hourly rate as though working. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Agreement, the University shall be obligated to conduct joint union management activities. Such individual shall pay only the basic hourly rate to an employee replacing one (1) so acting for the Union.
20.07 Local Union officers or officials shall, at all times, be entitled to time off under this articlethe presence and assistance of a representative of the Canadian Union of Public Employees in meeting with University officials.

Such permission shall not be unreasonably denied. When a new employee is hired, the Employer will introduce the employee to his or her ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.
4.04 The Employer will, after a discussion with the Union, set a time for grievance meetings between the Employer and the Union with the operational needs of the plant being the major factor in selection of meeting times. It may be necessary to schedule such meetings outside of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇’▇ regular working hours.
4.05 The Employer agrees to pay the designated bargaining unit employees on the negotiating committee at their regular straight time hourly rate of pay for all regular scheduled hours of work missed by the employee while attending Collective Bargaining negotiations for the renewal of the Collective Agreement to a maximum of 8 hours per day of negotiations, and a maximum of eight meetings between the Employer and the negotiating committee.
4.06 The Employer will advise the Union of the names of the incumbent Human Resources Manager or his designee for purposes of Steps 2 and 3 of the Grievance Procedure.
4.07 The Union Representative may visit the workplace provided he requests permission of such visit in advance. Such permission will not be unreasonably withheld. One member A representative of the Union Executive having been given permission to visit the Company premises shall restrict his activities to the purpose for which such permission was granted. The representative’s visitation to the workplace, as referenced above, shall include visiting during the employees’ meal period and signing in prior thereto at the main desk, provided said meal period visit is communicated to the Employer wherever possible in advance and is not inconvenient to the Employer, acting reasonably.
4.08 The Employer and the Union may agree to schedule Joint Labour Management Meetings (JLM) every two (2) months or more often as necessary to discuss work place issues with a view to resolving them before they become grievances. Such meetings shall take place during working hours and time spent at such meetings shall be designated to conduct joint union management activitiesconsidered as time worked. Topics of discussion shall not include issues that are properly the subject of a grievance or negotiations.
