Common use of Union Work Clause in Contracts

Union Work. 1. Members of the Union elected to union positions or appointed by the Union to perform work which takes them from their employment with the Board shall, at their request, receive a temporary leave of absence up to a period not to exceed one (1) year and said unpaid leave shall be renewable for an additional year for like cause. Employees desiring leaves under this Section shall notify the Superintendent at least sixty (60) days in advance of the date on which such leave is to become effective and shall specify the facts giving rise to the request for such leave. No more than two (2) employees shall be off on leave under this Section at any one time. No seniority shall accumulate during the leave. 2. Unpaid leaves of absence for Union business up to one (1) week shall be granted upon receipt of a written notice two (2) weeks prior to the date of the leave requested. No more than two (2) employees shall be off on leave under this Section at any one time.
