Common use of Upgrading Qualifications Clause in Contracts

Upgrading Qualifications. A. It is the responsibility of the Teacher to notify the Board in writing of an improvement in qualifications. B. When a Teacher has completed the requirements for raising her/his salary category before September 1, salary at the higher rate shall become retroactive to September 1 provided that the new Statement of Evaluation is filed with the Board by December 31, or, if this is impossible, through no fault of the Teacher, that a "notice of expected change" along with an explanation of the delay is filed with the Board by December 1 of that year and documentary evidence that the qualifications used for the upgrading were acquired prior to September 1 of that year. C. When a Teacher has completed the requirements for raising his/her salary category after September 1 and notification of improvement of qualifications is received after January 1 but prior to June 30, salary shall be retroactive to January 1st, or to the date at which improvement of qualifications was completed, whichever comes later. The Teacher must submit a letter from the University detailing the date of successful completion of the course required to raise qualifications.
