Use of Acting. In order to create capacity and reduce overtime, management has the authority to approve acting out of classification two ranks up. Acting out of classification is a way of saving on overtime costs. Acting out of classification will be used to save on overtime; however, acting out of classification which will cause overtime in a lower rank will not be approved. In such situations the need will be filled by calling back an employee of the rank needed at the overtime rate.
