Common use of Use of Leave Time Clause in Contracts

Use of Leave Time. a. Personal leave shall be used for any purpose at the discretion of the employee. No reason must be given other than personal business. Employees shall be given an accounting of their unused personal leave time on each paycheck advice. b. Employees must request the use of personal days at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance. All personal days are to be requested in writing by an employee to his/her immediate supervisor. Emergency request for personal days shall be considered by the appropriate supervisor. Granted emergency requests shall be followed up in writing within five (5) working days after the employee returns to work. Failure to make requests in writing and failure to obtain permission shall result in no pay and the days shall be counted as unexcused. c. Employees shall accrue and use sick leave, vacation, personal and other paid time off in increments of hours instead of days, with the number of such hours accrued based upon the number of that employee's regularly scheduled daily hours of work as of the time of accrual. d. Sick leave, personal days and vacation must be taken in no less than one (1) hour increments, except that employees in the transportation department must use leave time in no less than half-day increments. Personal leave days, if not used, shall be added to accumulated sick leave days at the end of each fiscal year.
