Use of Privately Owned. Vehicles‌ 35:01 An employee who is authorized to use his/her own vehicle for the business of the Employer, and does so, shall be paid an allowance in accordance with the Employer’s scale of car allowance which shall not be less than that approved by the Province of Manitoba. The employee shall be responsible for arranging and paying insurance coverage for this purpose as may be required by Autopac and such insurance shall include $1,000,000.00 public liability and property damage coverage. Such employee may be required to furnish satisfactory proof to the Employer that such insurance has been obtained and upon proof of payment of the premium for such insurance, the Employer shall reimburse the employee for the difference between the general all purpose and the commercial coverage. 35:02 An employee, in order to qualify for mileage payment, must abide by all the rules and regulations established by the Employer for payment of such mileage. 35:03 All employees who travel on Employer business must, as a condition of employment, have a properly serviced automobile and a valid driver’s licence. Failure to operate such a vehicle or the loss of such license may be proper grounds for dismissing such employee. However, where the loss of the employee’s driver’s license is due not to a driving or criminal offence but due to declining health, then the Employer will examine possible redeployment options before taking such action.
