Utility Potholing Sample Clauses

A utility-potholing clause defines the requirements and procedures for locating and exposing underground utilities before construction begins. Typically, this involves the contractor performing exploratory digging or non-destructive testing to verify the position and depth of existing utility lines, such as water, gas, or electrical conduits, within the project area. By mandating these investigations, the clause helps prevent accidental utility damage, reduces the risk of costly delays, and ensures the safety of workers and the public during construction activities.

Utility Potholing. Potholing of existing utilities within the proposed Project alignment will be performed at critical crossings identified by F&L to determine the horizontal and vertical position of select utilities and to verify the proposed vertical and horizontal alignment. Horizontal and vertical position of potholed utilities will be located with reference to adjacent surfaces (i.e. roadway surface) and nearby above grade features. The diameter and material type of the exposed utility will be recorded as well. F&L assumes no more than one day of potholing will be required. F&L will utilize EXARO Technologies Corporation (EXARO) to perform the potholing. EXARO is an experienced vacuum excavation sub-contractor that utilizes highly trained and experienced technicians. Vacuum excavation is a non-destructive excavation method that is recognized as the safest and most cost-effective means to positively expose underground utilities.
Utility Potholing. Includes all work necessary to expose, measure, record locations of existing utilities in the area, including survey, and pothole restoration. Payment will be lump sum.
Utility Potholing. Contractor shall perform utility potholing to determine the vertical and horizontal location of existing subsurface utilities (if any) at the proposed locations for the traffic signal pole foundations. Contractor shall conduct up to eight (8) potholes within the project site intersection. All permit issuance fees shall be waived. Fee does not include the preparation of Traffic Control Plans by registered Engineer. Traffic Control shall be conducted via Watch Manual. Fee includes all costs associated with furnishing and implementing the traffic control. Fee includes all costs for restoration of the pothole excavations. This task shall be billed via hourly rates on an as-needed/earned procedure as not all 8 potholes may be needed. Task A3.7 – 75% Plans, Specifications, and Estimates Contractor shall design and draw construction plans detailing the demolition of the existing right-of-way and the reconstruction of it for the new project improvements. Plans shall call out the demolition and removal of all affected roadway pavements, gutters, curbs, driveways, ramps, sidewalks, medians, etc. Plans shall call out the demolition and removal of all objects, the adjustment/relocation of all objects, and/or the protecting in place of all objects, as applicable. Plans shall include removal of entire IRWL system and all striping/signage/markers of current intersection control that conflict with the new project system. Plans shall include the reconstruction of all elements, including new roadway pavement, gutter, curb, ramps, driveways, sidewalks, medians, bulb outs, etc. Includes all grading design, and the drawing of centerline/ridgeline, top of curb, and flowline profiles. Includes all necessary notes, legends, details, typical sections, and plan views. Includes grading details of all 4 corners of intersections, to document unique grade planes in the curb return areas and in the pavement merges at the curb returns, ensuring enough grading control displayed for intersection plane. All DocuSign Envelope ID: ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇-▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ design shall comply with ADA rules. Includes repositioning curb ramps for optimal discharging. Includes new bulb outs. Contractor shall include all horizontal control information on the plans: • the bearings, curve data, and position dimensioning of the right-of-way mapping (right-of-way lines, easement lines, centerlines). • The same content for curb lines. • The datum and basis of bearings statements. • The stationing of all ob...
Utility Potholing. The Consultant shall: • Provide ongoing utility and entity coordination as established under Task 1.5. • Prepare a utility pothole plan and provide services for potholing, backfilling, compaction, and permit acquisition for up to Sixty (60) potholes to determine location of underground utilities in the vicinity of the Project. Additional potholing will be conducted as a supplemental service.
Utility Potholing. Upon mutual agreement between the consultant and Commerce City that location of underground utilities is necessary to determine or resolve conflicts, the consultant shall perform the following services upon written notice from Commerce City.
Utility Potholing. 1) Prepare an exhibit identifying proposed utility pothole locations. 2) Coordinate with utility companies or City Staff (for City owned utilities) to have potholing done at proposed locations. 3) Review pothole information from potholing companies and create an exhibit showing the pothole information. 4) Incorporate pothole information into design.
Utility Potholing. Consultantshall: • Provide potholing of underground utilities at twenty (20) locations. • Provide the pothole locations to the City for review and approval prior to engaging such activity. • Obtain the necessary permits from all governing agencies to perform the pothole. • Replace the disturbed pothole area to its original condition.
Utility Potholing. The CONSULTANT shall:  Provide ongoing utility and entity coordination as established under Task 1.5.  Prepare an amended utility pothole plan and provide services for potholing, backfilling, compaction, and permit acquisition for additional potholing which will be conducted as a supplemental service.
Utility Potholing. Design Professional will provide precise information as to the number and location of utilities at 25 locations through potholing by vacuum excavation prior to the development of the 60% water, sewer, and storm drain design. Design Professional proposes to perform the potholing excavation work over eight (8) working days, followed by a return mobilization of four (4) working days for AC hot asphalt patching to the City of San Diego’s SDG-123 standard. Additional work required as part of the potholing includes the following: • Design Professional will perform the Underground Service Alert (USA) call-ins, pothole and trench layouts based on plan and field ▇▇▇▇ out, coordinate with all entities in the field which may include: Engineering staff, USA ▇▇▇▇ out personnel, inspectors, utility standbys, and any other personnel involved with the performance of the work. • Design Professional will prepare, process, obtain the permit, and implement traffic control plans for the purpose of completing potholing services along the project corridor and will obtain the required permits. • Design Professional will perform all physical tasks in the field for pavement saw cutting and removal, excavation by vacuum and higher- pressure water. • Design Professional will provide and deploy all traffic control equipment necessary to complete the work. Some signage and message boards may be placed per plan for extended periods of time while the bulk of devices will be placed and picked up only during work hours. Roadways may be plated in the City and where else permitted by the appropriate agency allowing more time for investigation and cure time for slurry. • All work will be carefully documented on a nightly basis and compiled in the office daily. Changes or conditions noted by the field or the client will be discussed and annotated in writing. All of this information will be compiled in a detailed report to be submitted at the end of field work. • Inspection and permit fees are not expected since this is a City of San Diego CIP project. Any permit and inspection fees will be charged back at cost. • Night work, if required, will incur additional cost for balloon lighting, generators and barricade lights. All rates are based on a standard 40- hour work week. • Pothole Report (electronic copy)
Utility Potholing. Based on utility coordination with SCG, it was discovered that SCG did not have adequate as-built information to positively identify the location of the existing 4” gas line along Ironwood Avenue in the vicinity of the Line K-1 improvements. ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ recommends potholing the existing 4” gas line to mitigate risk during construction. • Task 2.5 – Utility Coordination o Supplemental Utility Potholing (Subconsultant cost ~ $5,000)
