While on leave the bargaining unit member may participate in the group health care benefits program offered to regular unit members by paying the total cost of the premium to the Board. The terms of such payment are to be established by the Treasurer of the Board. Such terms allow for monthly or other periodic payment as long as payment is received by the Treasurer before disbursement is required.
While on leave a Teacher shall have the option to remain an active participant in health, life, dental and vision insurance programs, at the Teacher's expense.

While on leave. Subject to Article 9.03 Loss of Seniority and Article 9.05 Revised Seniority Date, seniority of each employee covered by this Agreement shall be maintained and accumulated during:
(A) Absence due to lay-off;
(B) Sickness or accident;
(C) Authorized leave of absence;
(D) Absence to attend Union conventions or conferences;
(E) Absence to attend compulsory jury duty;
(F) While on leave to attend to Union business pursuant to Article 15.04;
(G) Leave of absence as contemplated by Part XIV ESA, 2000.
While on leave the employee shall not engage in gainful employment except by written agreement with the Board. Scholarships and fellowships do not constitute gainful employment.
