WORKING CONDITIONS – FACULTY MEMBERS. (a) A Faculty Member's appointment, except as provided for in 10.1.10 (c) and (d), shall be on a full-time yearly basis from September 1 to August 31 of the following year inclusive. Although they shall not be obliged to be at the University outside the Academic Year, it is agreed that the Faculty Member, as a professional academic, will undertake research, study, or professional activities whenever they are not engaged in teaching or other administrative duties, whether during the Academic Year or outside it, excepting for a vacation period of one month. (b) A Faculty Member shall be deemed to have repudiated their appointment and thereby terminated their rights under the Agreement if: i) They engage in full-time employment outside the University without the President's prior written consent, or ii) They are absent from their classes for ten (10) consecutive days or more without leave or permission from the President excepting in circumstances beyond their control. iii) They are absent from their classes for five (5) or more consecutive days during summer school without leave or permission from the President excepting in circumstances beyond their control.
