Common use of Working from Home Arrangements Clause in Contracts

Working from Home Arrangements. (a) The University recognizes that Employees may sometimes ask to work from home on occasion or on a continuing basis. It is understood that such arrangements may not be suitable operationally in some departments and/or for certain positions and/or certain periods of time. The following conditions shall apply: (i) the arrangement must be pre-approved by the Supervisor and documented in writing to address the impact of the Collective Agreement and its provisions; with copies of the arrangement to be forwarded to the Unit 1 Chairperson and Human Resources Services; (ii) the arrangement will not be unreasonably denied. This decision and/or the provisions of the arrangement shall not be the subject of a grievance; (iii) the Employee will remain responsible for fulfilling all their on-campus commitments; (iv) the arrangement may be reviewed by the Supervisor and can be ended sooner by either Party; and, (v) no continuing arrangement will be longer than 1 year in duration, but may be renewed with the agreement of the Employee and their Supervisor.

In extenuating circumstances an extension on the notice period may be requested and will not be unreasonably denied; and, (v) no continuing arrangement will be longer than 1 year in duration, but may be renewed with the agreement of the Employee and their Supervisor.
