February 2002, an agreement is reached for establishing a pipeline from the Caspian Sea, Iraq and through Egypt to Europe. Turkey, some European countries and the United States of America, formed partnerships and were the investors. The project was called Nabucco. With the realization of Nabucco, Europe was importing successively 36% gas and 20% of its oil from Russia would end the dependency on Russian oil and gas. The new pipeline from the Caspian Sea and the Middle East, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Iraq and the United Arabic Emirates joined in Erzurum , Kurdish town in Turkey and then crosses some former Russian satellite countries, to reach Austria and other European countries.
