Contract Type FiledJuly 19th, 2022 JurisdictionPROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Central Arizona Project (CAP) aqueduct extends through Pinal County and the adjacent land created an uninterrupted corridor of land that is generally flat, most suitable for the development of a multi-use, non-motorized, trail. The original plans for the canal dating to the late 1960s recognized and called out as mitigation a parallel trail and the benefits of passive recreation. Pinal County’s CAP Phase 2 project includes the development of 40 miles of new trail and 3 trailheads. This funding being requested will assist in the development of 1.2 miles of connecting trails and the installation of 70-100 carsonites. The CAP trail is a vital connection point for communities throughout Pinal County and serves to connect Pima County to Maricopa County.
