The Southern African Region has once again, been affected by drought from 1995 the Society requested the Federation for financial assistance to enable it to carry out a drought relief programme. Subsequently, the Federation launched an international appeal on behalf of the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society, which commenced a drought operation programme, ongoing until 30 September, 1996.
