Contract Type FiledJuly 27th, 2017 JurisdictionIn April 2017, SMG Property Management, LLC.(also known as Min Property Management, LLC), made an application to the City for the approval of Precise Plan 284 to develop the parcel at 5062 La Palma Avenue, comprising approximately .4 acres, into an 11-unit apartment building. The application was based upon the existing R-3 Zoning with Village Residential Overlay, that allows from 20 -30 units per acre on the parcel. The proposed project triggered significant controversy when it was scheduled for review by the Development and Circulation Committee, due in part to the large number of units on the relatively small parcel, the lack of any open space, and on-site parking and access concerns. Numerous residents appeared at City Council and Development Circulation Committee meetings to oppose the proposed project. On June 12, 2017, the Development and Circulation Committee voted to recommend denial of the project.
