The attached side letter agreement reflects the establishment of a search and rescue canine program and a specialty canine handler assignment. The collective bargaining agreement with IAFF does not address the terms and conditions of the canine handler assignment. The side letter agreement addresses responsibilities of all parties and all terms and conditions including rate of pay, overtime, certifications, veterinary care, and other conditions as part of the assignment.
