Course Development definition

Course Development. If the supervising ▇▇▇▇ asks an instructor to design, develop and offer an online course, the instructor will be compensated an additional development fee. This fee will be equal to one-half (1/2) times the compensation normally paid the instructor, using the staff rate and credit hours assigned to the course. The developing instructor will have the first option for teaching the course when it is first offered by the College. All course materials will be owned by the College in this case.
Course Development the development of or building of new content for a credit or non-credit course that has not been previously offered by the University in any format.
Course Development at SCCC means that the Instructor agrees to develop and present the following: a course concept for the approval process, a course outline that includes SCCC and applicable SUNY General Education course objectives, a complete syllabus with lesson plans, content material for each lesson, and a student learning outcomes assessment plan that includes materials such as test questions or portfolio evaluation criteria. Instructors who develop courses for web-based delivery may expect assistance from the SCCC Instructional Technology Coordinator/Multimedia Instruction Developer (MID) and others. Each Instructor receiving such assistance is expected to attempt to learn the skills needed to develop their own materials.

  • By mutual written agreement between the College and the faculty member, the Electronic Course Development Agreement may allow the College or the faculty member to grant sub-licenses to other colleges or institutions.

  • If authorized to proceed with development of the Electronic Course materials, the College and the faculty member will enter into a written Electronic Course Development Agreement which details the scope of the Electronic Course materials to be developed, a schedule for completion, and the terms and conditions of ownership of any intellectual property rights in the materials developed.

  • However, the College may offer faculty an updated Electronic Course Development Agreement to substitute for any existing agreements, the form of which shall be agreed to between AAUP and the College.

  • If the Online Course Development Application is approved by both the Online Learning Committee and the Academic Vice President, then the faculty member may commence building the entire online course.

  • Faculty must complete an Online Course Development Application and receive initial online course development approval from the Online Learning Committee.

  • The application includes an Online Course Development Application Review Checklist for the faculty to follow.

  • If recommended by the Online Learning Committee, the Online Course Development Application will be sent to the Academic Vice President for approval.

  • In addition the Employee will be advised of the Course Development assignment, the component pieces and the number of hours attached to each component.
