Date of Severance means the date on which a severance occurs. For this purpose a "Severance" occurs when the individual has ceased to be an Employee because of death, termination or Retirement and the individual is not in Alternate Service.

Examples of Date of Severance in a sentence

  • In the event a change of job classification or a transfer to an Affiliated Company results in a Participant no longer qualifying as an Employee, such employee shall cease to be a Participant as of the effective date of such change of job classification or transfer, but the employee shall not be deemed to have incurred a Date of Severance.

  • The following terms are used in determining Years of Service under the Elapsed Time Method: o Date of Severance (Termination) - means the earlier of (A) the actual date an Employee resigns, is discharged, dies or retires, or (B) the first anniversary of the date an Employee is absent from work (with or without pay) for any other reason, e.g., disability, vacation, leave of absence, layoff, etc.

  • Transfer of an Employee to the service of an Affiliated Company which is not a Participating Employer or the termination of a corporation's status as a Participating Employer (while remaining an Affiliated Company) under the Plan shall not be treated as a Date of Severance under the Plan, and, in such event, benefits shall be payable in accordance with this Article VII upon the Participant's termination of Service.


More Definitions of Date of Severance

Date of Severance means the date on which a severance occurs. For this purpose a "Severance" occurs when the individual has ceased to be an Employee because of death, termination (including, subject to the rules of section 7.01, a termination arising from a Participant being determined to be Totally and Permanently Disabled) or Retirement and the individual is not on a Covered Leave of Absence.
Date of Severance means the earliest of: (a) the date on which an Employee quits, is discharged, retires or dies; (b) the date on which an individual ceases to be an Employee by reason of the sale or other disposition of the stock of a subsidiary or of assets constituting a separate trade or business with the Employees of the subsidiary or business, who were covered by the Plan, continuing to work for that subsidiary or business; or (c) the first anniversary of an Employee's absence from Service for any reason other than quit, discharge, retirement or death. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if the Employee is absent for a period of Qualified Military Service, the Employee shall not be considered to have had a Date of Severance provided that the absent Employee is reemployed by the Employer or an Affiliated Company within the time during which his or her right to reemployment is protected by applicable law.

  • Period of Severance means a continuous period of time during which an Employee is not employed by the Employer. Such period begins on the date the Employee retires, quits or is discharged, or if earlier, the twelve (12) month anniversary of the date on which the Employee was otherwise first absent from service.

  • Date of Service means the date on which the client receives medical services or items, unless otherwise specified in the appropriate provider rules. For items that are mailed or shipped by the provider, the date of service is the date on which the order was received, the date on which the item was fabricated, or the date on which the item was mailed or shipped.

  • Severance from Service Date means the earlier of:

  • Severance Pay means any amount that is payable in cash and is identified by a Participating Company as severance pay, or any amount which is payable on account of periods beginning after the last date on which an employee (or former employee) is required to report for work for a Participating Company.

  • Severance Date means the date on which an Executive incurs a Severance, which shall be the date of termination as determined under Section 5.2.
