Zero Tolerance definition

Zero Tolerance means Agency initiated activities, such as education and training, which are intended to prevent occurrences of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and abandonment involving persons with developmental disabilities and facilitate quicker identification and reporting of potentially harmful situations and environments in which abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment may arise.

Zero Tolerance means that the school will not tolerate the possession of any weapon by any person. The term “weapon” is defined as any object or substance which by its design, threatened use, or use could cause bodily injury or property damage, including any object which could reasonably be mistaken for a weapon. The division director and dean of student life shall use their discretion when interpreting the use and intent of such articles at school.

Therefore, it does not matter that the knife is small or that it can inflict harm only with force. The word weapon may also include fake guns, toy guns, or knives, because fear of injury in a school is simply unacceptable. "Zero Tolerance" also applies to drugs as covered in the student handbook.
