Additional Unpaid Leave. An employee may elect, with the consent of the employer, to take unpaid leave for the purpose of providing care to an immediate family member who is ill, injured or in order to assist with an unexpected emergency. In the event of the death or serious illness posing a threat to the life of a member of the employee’s immediate family or household, the employee may access two days of paid compassionate leave on each occasion. Paid compassionate leave counts as service for all purposes.
