An On the-job accident where it is believed a controlled substance or alcohol use has been a contributing factor in an employee injury or fatality or where the employee is cited and the vehicle requires towing or medical attention away from the accident.
An On call Watch Center Supervisor is an employee who has completed their probationary period and who is not guaranteed work hours. An on-call Watch Center Supervisor’s work is intermittent in nature, sporadic and does not fit a particular pattern. An on-call will be used after the relief Watch Center Supervisor has been scheduled. To keep an on-call Watch Center Supervisor ready to cover a watch, they will be scheduled for forty (40) hours refresher training every one hundred twenty (120) days.
An On. Call employee shall acquire seniority after completing a probationary period of forty-five (45) shifts worked or three hundred and sixty (360) hours in any nine (9) consecutive month period. An On-Call listing of employees according to hours worked shall be prepared each January and July and a copy will be sent to the Union. It is further understood that any On-Call employee shall not be subject to Article
An On. Call is understood to be program delivery for a single class for a continuous period of time not to exceed a half-period. Notwithstanding the above, classes may be combined in exceptional circumstances, such as inclement weather, not to exceed a regular class size.
An On. Call employee who is awarded a full-time job posting and who has completed one-thousand (1,000) hours worked within the last twenty-four (24) month period will be paid the full job rate six (6) months from their full time date of hire. For clarity, on full time date of hire the employee will be paid ninety (90%) percent of the full time job rate. After three-months (3) service the employee will be paid ninety-five (95%) percent of the full time job rate.
An On. Call Employee is defined as a substitute who may or may not be regularly scheduled to work on a weekly basis, but are expected to work for up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. Hours may increase for short periods of time due to staffing shortages. On-Call Employees will cover shifts of full/part-time drivers who are sick, scheduled off, on vacation, or in times of driver shortages (i.e., turnover). Each On-Call Employee is eligible for health care coverage and participation in PERS, provided s/he meets the specific plan requirements and pay his/her share of premiums/contributions.
An On hire Employee who, on the instructions of the Company, resumes or continues work without having had 10 consecutive hours off duty will:
i. Be paid at double time during ordinary hours and after that until the On-hire Employee is released from duty; ii. then be entitled to be absent for 10 consecutive hours; and
An On the-job injury is a physical injury that an employee suffers during the course and scope of his/her employment for the City of Middletown. On-the-job injury does not include pre-existing injuries, injuries suffered at the workplace which are not in the course and scope of the employee's work activity, psychological or psychiatric injuries or conditions. However, any member who suffers a heart attack or stroke, is over forty (40) years of age and has been employed by the City of Middletown for a period of ten (10) consecutive years as a dispatcher shall be presumed to have suffered an on-the-job injury.
An On. Call employee who is awarded a full-time job posting and who has completed two-thousand (2,000) hours worked within the last twenty-four (24) month period will be paid the full job rate. An On-Call employee who is awarded a full-time job posting and who has completed one-thousand (1,000) hours worked within the last twenty-four (24) month period will be paid the full job rate six (6) months from their full time date of hire. For clarity, on full time date of hire the employee will be paid ninety (90%) percent of the full time job rate. After three-months (3) service the employee will be paid ninety-five (95%) percent of the full time job rate. ARTICLE Vacation Plan On-Call employees will receive vacation pay and time off in accordance with the Employment Standards Act. On-call employees shall accumulate vacation pay in accordance with the Employment Standards Act as set out in the On-Call Appendix up until the date they are hired into a full-time position. (This vacation pay will be held in accordance with practice and paid out to the employee at the beginning of the next calendar year.) Effective upon being hired into a full-time position, the employee will then be covered by Article of the main body of the collective agreement, including but not limited to Article “First ion”.
An On duty Booking Officer is responsible for contacting employees for replacement on any shift. It is understood that this responsibility begins thirty (30) minutes after the Booking Officer's shift starts and thirty (30) minutes prior to their shift ending. Outside of this time, or when there is not a Booking Officer on duty, the responsibility for contacting employees remains with the Supervisor.
