Labour-management meetings will be held quarterly, or changes more regularly as the parties agree is necessary. Each party will switch on a rotating basis the responsibility for providing an agenda (at least one (1) week in advance of the meeting) and minutes (no later than one (I) week after the meeting). The Union may elect, or otherwise select up to this Agreementthree (3) bargaining unit members as its Labour-Management Committee, provided;and will supply to the Employer the names of those so selected. Should the Union require additional representatives it will be mutually agreed and arranged in advance of the meeting. Either party may have the assistance of an outside representative at these meetings. The party bringing an outside representative will inform the other of its intent to do so with as much advance notice as possible. Members will be paid for attendance at Labour-Management meeting at their regular straight time hourly rate of pay. The Union Grievance Committee and Labour Management Committee shall have the right to request the assistance and attendance of the National Representative at any time in meeting with the Employer to address matters arising from the collective agreement or any applicable legislation. During the term Agreement, or while negotiations for a further agreement are being held, the Employer will not engage in any lockout of its employees. Article Policy And Union The Union and the Employer will cooperate in maintaining a desirable and competent labour force. The Employer has the right to hire new employees as needed and will give preference to Union members for employment, provided such applicants are qualified to meet the requirement of the job. Prior to the start of each project, a conference will be held to determine all site-specific issues as outlined in the Agreement. The Employer will notify the Union that a project has been awarded to the Employer immediately following the award. Neither the Employer nor the Union will compel employees to join the Union. The Employer will not against any employee because of Union membership or lack of it, and will all new employees of the contractual relationship between the Employer and the Union. Before commencing work, or as soon as reasonably possible commencing work, new employees shall be referred by the Employer to a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or Representative in order to describe the Union’s purposes and representation policies to such new employees. The Union agrees that it will make membership in the Union available to all employees covered by this Agreement on the same terms and conditions as are applicable to other members of the Union. It shall be the policy of the Employer to promote from within wherever possible at the Employer’s discretion. New employees will be hired on a working day probationary period and thereafter shall attain regular employment status subject to the availability of work. The parties agree that the discharge or layoff of a probationary employee will be at the discretion of the Employer. Probationary employees are covered by the Agreement, excepting those provisions which specifically exclude such employees. Employees laid off and recalled by the Employer shall not serve a new probationary period. Article Check-Off The Employer agrees to check-off from each employee the amount equal to the Union dues, once monthly, and where applicable an amount equal to Union dues arrears or Union initiation fees. The total amount checked off will be turned over to the Union Treasurer each month, by the of the month following the check-off, together with an list of the employees for whom the deductions are made and the amount checked off for each. The Union and the employees agree that the Employer shall be saved harmless for all deductions and payments so made. Employees who because of religious or conscientious objections, cannot support may apply to the Union, in writing, for permission to redirect their dues to a charitable of their choice. The Union will treat such requests in accordance with its stated policy and such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld.
