Common use of Assignment of Extra Work Clause in Contracts

Assignment of Extra Work. The Union will provide to the Board a list of part-time employees who may wish to work extra hours in accordance with the following: These listed part-time employees shall be given an opportunity to perform extra hours of work, including that of temporary replacements, to reach a regular workday or week before hiring new employees. Such extra work will be first offered to qualified part-time employees within the same Board building location on the basis of seniority in September (or the first time extra hours become available) and then on a rotating basis throughout the year and then to other qualified employees by seniority within that geographical region. In cases of emergency and where no one is available that meets the above criteria, the Board may offer the assignment to a member who is not the most senior or qualified. Employees shall not be entitled to work extra hours if the hours conflict with the hours of their regular position or if the addition of the extra hours brings an employee’s hours over the regular work day for the position.
