Common use of Authorization for Leave Clause in Contracts

Authorization for Leave. During the term of this MOU, up to four (4) months (nine [9] pay periods) of family or medical leave shall be provided for the purpose of childbirth, adoption, ▇▇▇▇▇▇ care of a child, or serious health condition of an immediate family member or designated person, upon the request of the employee, or the designation of Management in accordance with applicable Federal or State law, notwithstanding any other provisions of this MOU or the LAAC to the contrary. An employee may take leave under the provisions of this Article if the employee has a serious health condition that makes the employee unable to perform the functions of their position. Leave under the provisions of this Article shall be limited to four (4) months (nine [9] pay periods) during a twelve (12) month period, regardless of the number of incidents. A 12-month period shall begin on the first day of leave for each individual taking such leave. The succeeding 12-month period will begin the first day of leave taken under the provisions of this Article after completion of the previous 12-month period.
