Authorization for Usage. Employees are entitled to use sick leave only when incapacitated due to sickness, injury of when receiving necessary medical or dental service, or in the event of an illness, per the FLMA policy, or death in the immediate family. Sick leave used for bereavement shall not exceed thirty (30) hours per incident for employees working a ten (10) hour shift and twenty-four (24) hours per incident for employees working an eight (8) hour shift, except as approved in advance by the Sheriff. Such use for bereavement is limited to relatives listed in the section below.
