CALENDAR AND HOURS. 4 The school year shall be a minimum of 180 class days within a 5 consecutive 10-month period during a fiscal year, exclusive of summer school, 6 subject to the following conditions: 7 (1) The District retains the exclusive right to determine that such 8 guarantee may be abrogated for lack of funds or lack of work or both; 9 (2) Nothing herein shall be interpreted, construed or applied to limit 10 the District's right to close classes for lack of sufficient enrollment even though 11 such closure may diminish the above guarantee; 12 (3) The above guarantee shall not apply to unit members who 13 intentionally absent themselves from work without authorization; 14 (4) Authorized absences shall count toward the minimum guarantee, 15 except as provided in paragraph 3, above, regardless of whether such absence 16 is paid or unpaid. 17 (5) The district shall make a reasonable effort to maintain a minimum 18 of twenty percent (20%) of the total unit members employed as full-time
