Causes for Disciplinary Action. The City may discipline or discharge an employee for the following: a. Fraud in securing appointment. b. Negligence of duty. c. Violation of safety rules. d. Unacceptable attendance record including tardiness, overstaying lunch or break periods. e. Possession, distribution or under the influence of alcoholic beverages, non-prescription or unauthorized narcotics or dangerous drugs during working hours. f. Inability, unwillingness, refusal or failure to perform work as assigned, required or directed. g. Unauthorized soliciting on City property or time. h. Conviction of a felony or conviction of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude. i. Unacceptable behavior towards (mistreatment or discourteousness to) the general public or fellow employees or officers of the City. j. Falsifying employment application materials, time reports, records, or payroll documents or other City records. k. Disobedience to proper authority. l. Misuse of City property. m. Violation of any of the provisions of these working rules and regulations or departmental rules and regulations. n. Disorderly conduct, participation in fights, horseplay or brawls.
