Common use of Class with Lower Salary Range Clause in Contracts

Class with Lower Salary Range. If the position is reclassified to a class with a lower salary range than the previous class and if the incumbent is appointed to the reclassified position, their salary rate shall not change. If their salary is greater than the maximum rate of the lower salary range, their salary shall be Y-rated (i.e., salary is frozen) and shall not change during the continuous regular service until the maximum of the new range exceeds the salary of the employee.
