Common use of Classification Assignment Clause in Contracts

Classification Assignment. ‌ When a new position is established, the Employer shall assign a classification to the position and notify the Union. In the event that the Union does not agree with the classification assigned to the new position, the matter may be referred to arbitration as provided for in this collective agreement. Specialized qualifications and/or competencies as identified and required by the Employer may replace or defer one or more specified qualifications or competencies.
