Community Service Activities. 10.1.1 Community service leave is provided for in the NES. 10.1.2 Each of the following is an eligible community service activity: • Jury service (including attendance for the purpose of jury selection) that is required by or under a law of the Commonwealth or of a State or Territory; or, • Carrying out a voluntary emergency management activity (within the meaning of Section 109 of the FW Act; or • An activity prescribed by the FW Regulations. 10.1.3 Absence While Engaging in a Community Service Activity 10.1.4 An Employee who engages in an eligible community service activity is entitled to be absent from their employment for a period if the period consists of one or more of the following: • Time when the Employee engages in the activity; • Reasonable travelling time associated with the activity; • Reasonable rest time immediately following the activity; and, • Unless the activity is jury service-the Employee's absence is reasonable in all the circumstances.
