Common use of Compassionate Grant Clause in Contracts

Compassionate Grant. ‌ 9.7.1 Upon the notice of the death of a permanent kaimahi, the employer may pay to the next of kin an ex-gratia amount as follows: a) For kaimahi with at least 10 years’ but less than 20 years’ continuous service, one-twelfth of the annual salary b) For kaimahi with 20 years’ continuous service or more, one-eighth of the annual salary. 9.7.2 For the purpose of this clause, the term 'next of kin' means: a) The spouse or partner of the deceased ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇; or b) Where there is no surviving spouse or partner, a relative of the deceased ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ previously nominated by them and approved by the employer.
