Common use of Competency Pay Clause in Contracts

Competency Pay. Competency Pay differential of two dollars ($2.00) per hour shall be paid to an employee in the classification of Communications Dispatcher II cross trained to dispatch both Law and Fire disciplines. Training will be based on operational business needs and may include up to two (2) employees per year. To be eligible for Competency Pay, the following shall apply: 1. Certified competent by the Director or designee as a Law/Fire Cross-Trained Dispatcher (All channels including ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Police Department and Sheriff’s Office); 2. Unless operationally directed otherwise must perform both Law and Fire dispatch assignment for a minimum of four (4) hours per week. 3. Competency Pay shall not be paid for hours when the employee is not actively call-taking or dispatching, (i.e. in a classroom training, in a meeting, or working in an administrative status.) 4. Competency Pay shall not be paid for hours not actually worked (i.e. for holidays, vacations, sick leave or other time in paid status.) The Director of Emergency Communications may re-evaluate and/or reassign a Law/Fire Cross-Trained Dispatcher.
