Compressed Work Schedules. A compressed work schedule is defined as an eighty (80) hour basic work requirement in a pay period which is scheduled for less than ten (10) workdays. The following are examples of widely recognized (a.k.a. traditional) compressed work schedules: (1) 5/4-9: a schedule comprising of eight (8) workdays of nine (9) hours each and one (1) workday of eight (8) hours in each pay period.
