Flexible Work Schedules. The normal hours for employees who work flexible work schedules will consist of thirty-five (35) hours per week. Employees shall have the ability to work in excess of the normal daily tour referred to in 17.01 above without entitlement to daily overtime but shall retain the entitlement to overtime premium for all approved hours worked in excess of thirty-five (35) hours per week. 17.04 a) The Employer will make every reasonable effort to provide employees with three (3) out of every four (4) weekends off but in no circumstance, unless agreed to by the employee, will an employee working the normal daily tour or a combination schedule be required to work more than two (2) weekends out of every four (4) weekends in which case 17.04

Flexible Work Schedules. (a) The Employer shall determine, pursuant to the appropriate statutory authority, when various services are provided (hours of operation), the classifications of positions and the numbers of employees required to provide the services. (b) The Employer’s designate will consult with the Union Bargaining Unit Chairperson in establishing work schedules based upon the hours of work provisions of this Article including the following: (1) work schedules shall meet the hours of operation and shall consider unusual or seasonal demands and functionally linked work groups within and without the bargaining unit; (2) work schedule changes, within existing hours of operation, must not result in increased cost to the Employer and where possible shall result in decreased cost to the Employer and/or improved efficiency and/or improved services to the public. The onus of proof shall be on the Employer to prove decreased cost; (3) consideration shall also be given to employee preferences, fairness and equity.
Flexible Work Schedules. (a) Flexible Work Schedules (FWS) are schedules for which an employee may vary the length of their workday and/or workweek. For FWS, the term Basic Work Requirement means the number of hours, excluding overtime hours, which an employee is required to work or is required to account for by leave or otherwise. The administrative workweek for those on a Flexible Schedule is a period of 7 consecutive days beginning on Sunday. A flexible or compressed work schedule is a scheduled tour of duty and all work performed by an employee within the basic work requirement is considered regularly scheduled work for premium pay and hours of duty purposes (5 CFR § 610.111 (d)). Scheduled hours may vary from pay period to pay period, week-to-week, and day-to-day. An employee’s tour of duty and established work schedule will be recorded in the header of the Paycheck record. (b) The following FWS may be approved byManagement: (1) Variable day schedule is a type of FWS containing core hours on each workday in the week and in which a full-time employee has a basic work requirement of 40 hours in each week of the biweekly pay period, but in which an employee may vary the number of hours worked on a given workday within the week within the limits established in this article. Employees must work 5 consecutive days in each week of the pay period. For a part-time employee, the basic work requirement is the number of hours the employee must work in a week. (2) Variable week schedule is a type of FWS containing core hours on each workday in the biweekly pay period and in which a full-time employee has a basic work requirement of i. 80 hours for the biweekly pay period, but in which an employee may vary the number of hours worked on a given workday or the number of hours each week within the limits established in this article. Employees must work 5 consecutive days in each week of the pay period. For a part-time employee, the basic work requirement is the number of hours the employee must work in a pay period. (3) Maxiflex schedule is a type of FWS in which the employee may vary the number of hours per day and the number of days per week, accounting for at least 80 hours per pay period, including core hours. There are core hours on fewer than 10 workdays per pay period. For a part-time employee, the basic work requirement is the number of hours the employee must work in a pay period. Flexible Work Schedules. Flexible work hours may be established by the commissioner of the employing department. The commissioner or the commissioner's designee shall be the approving authority for requests for flexible hours.
Flexible Work Schedules. (a) Academic Professional staff members throughout the University may have, as indicated below, flexible work schedules. For example, Academic Professionals often travel on University business and/or work evenings and weekends. A flexible work schedule is defined as having established working hours different from the standard 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday schedule, to be followed by an employee for an agreed upon period of time. (b) Employees interested in flexible work schedules should make a request in writing to their supervisor. Administrators of Academic Professionals are responsible for the work schedules in their units. They have the discretion to consider flexing employee schedules when requested and if suitable for positions in their area. In many cases flexible work schedules may be a positive option benefiting the Academic Professional and the Department; however, in some cases it may not be practical. (c) For full-time overtime-exempt Academic Professionals, the workload is expected to be approximately 2080 hours per year. Overtime-exempt Academic Professionals have no expectation of receiving additional salary for hours that exceed this number. The Association and the University acknowledge that the amount of work may cycle with time of year, specific assignments, and/or other situational demands. In the event that an overtime-exempt Academic Professional's workload is unusually high for some period of time, it is often appropriate to provide additional flexibility in order to balance out the Academic Professional's work commitment. In such cases, the Academic Professional must work in cooperation with the relevant supervisor to determine when and how such adjustments will be made. (For example, an employee's schedule in subsequent weeks could be adjusted; or, if the workload increases cyclically, there could be a subsequent decrease in work schedule.) This is not intended as an hour-for-hour adjustment, but rather as a mechanism to provide flexibility in an overtime-exempt Academic Professional’s work schedule in keeping with work-life balance ideals. Flexible Work Schedules. A flexible schedule is defined as a work schedule that requires a change, modification or waiver of certain provisions of this Agreement. Flexible work schedules may be established in writing by mutual agreement between the Swedish Medical Center and the nurse involved. See Addendum’s for specific work schedules. Prior to the implementation of a new flexible work schedule, the Employer and the Union will review and determine conditions of employment relating to that new work schedule. Where flexible work schedules are utilized, the Employer retains the right to revert back to an eight (8) hour per day schedule or a flexible schedule recognized by this Agreement after at least thirty (30) days’ advance notice to the nurse, or pay in lieu of notice.
