Cost Estimator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: a. Providing guidance, direction, and specialized assistance in the resolution of difficult and complex estimating problems, b. Assist project managers in the preparation of schedules for task deliverables, c. Prepare material and quantity takeoffs on the most complex projects, drawings and plans, d. Review takeoffs provided by other sources for mathematical and technical accuracy, e. Prepare detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems, f. Review contractual documents and contract modifications to determine the scope of work and scope of changes, g. Prepare and summarize task and subtasks estimates including rate and unit cost determination and performing mathematical calculations by applying standard factors, h. Assign material costs and staffing costs to the takeoffs, i. Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data and construction procedures and methods in order to maintain current estimating standards and databases, j. Provide training and guidance to assigned personnel in the preparation, revision, and production of cost estimates, k. Review work of subordinate personnel for quality, clarity, and application, l. Participate in presentations as required and, m. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
