Common use of DATES OF OCCUPANCY Clause in Contracts

DATES OF OCCUPANCY. Students may occupy their rooms under the terms of this Agreement as follows: A. Students may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2022. B. Only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who arrive to campus to move in earlier than the date established in this Agreement without prior authorization accept their room condition as is and waive any expectation that the room has been cleaned and inspected prior to occupancy. C. All non-graduating students must vacate their room no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 21, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. D. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00pm on Monday, May 30, 2022 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 E. Extensions to these dates of occupancy may result in additional charges of $39 per day being applied to the student’s account in accordance with the Residential Life Policies and Rules. F. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, or are suspended or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, suspension, leave, or expulsion becomes effective. G. Students who maintain their Fall 2021 room assignment into the Spring 2022 semester, and who keep their personal items in their room between the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, but do not return for the Spring 2022 semester will be charged the applicable room charge for the Spring 2022 semester. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the schedule contained in the Spring 2022 Housing Agreement.

Only students authorized in writing by the Office Director of Residential Life Operations or designee may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who are not SRCs must vacate their room on the date communicated to them by the Office of Residential Life via email in April-May, 2021 unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date. F. Students who leave Rhode Island for more than 24 hours at any point in the semester are required to contact Student Support Services prior to departing to coordinate possible travel quarantine requirements. G. All students must vacate their room by the end date(s) established in this Agreement unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00pm on Monday, May 30, 2022 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 E. H. Extensions to these dates of occupancy may result in additional charges of $39 per day being applied to the student’s account in accordance with the Residential Life Policies and Rules. F. I. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, or are suspended or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, suspension, leave, or expulsion becomes effective. Students who maintain are given written permission by the Office of Residential Life to leave their personal belongings in their rooms between the Summer 2021 and Fall 2021 room assignment into the Spring 2022 semester, and who keep their personal items in their room between the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, semesters but do not return for the Spring 2022 Fall 2021 semester will be charged the applicable room charge for the Spring 2022 Fall 2021 semester. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the schedule contained in the Spring 2022 Fall 2021 Housing Agreement.

Students Incoming first-year and transfer students may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. B. Returning students may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22August 31, 20222024. B. C. Only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who arrive to campus to move in earlier than the date established in this Agreement without prior authorization accept their room condition as is and waive any expectation that the room has been cleaned and inspected prior to occupancy. C. D. Residence halls will be closed from 12:00pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024 until 8am on Saturday, January 18, 2025. During this winter break period, only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms. E. All non-graduating students must vacate their room within 24 hours of their last final examination but no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 2117, 2025 (whichever is sooner), unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. Failure to comply with relocation requirements from the Office of Residential Life may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the student receiving Late Occupancy Fines, and/or termination of this Agreement. F. H. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, or are suspended suspended, or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, leave, suspension, leave, or expulsion becomes effectivetakes effect. All non-graduating students must vacate their room within 24 hours of their last final examination but no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 2118, 2024 (whichever is sooner), unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 F. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. Students New Residential Peer Leaders (RPLs) may occupy their rooms beginning at 8:00 a.m. on SaturdayJanuary 7, January 22, 2022.2021 B. Returning RPLs may occupy their rooms beginning on January 8, 2021 C. Students who are not RPLs may occupy their rooms as early as 8am on January 9, 2021 D. Only students authorized in writing by the Office Director of Residential Life Operations or designee may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who arrive to campus to move in earlier than the date established in this Agreement without prior authorization accept their room condition as is and waive any expectation that the room has been cleaned and inspected prior to occupancy. C. All non-graduating students E. Students must vacate their room no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 21April 24th, 2o21 following the remote reading period and finals. F. Students who leave Providence for four or more consecutive days, at any point throughout the semester, will need to complete the remainder of the semester remotely and must vacate their room entirely prior to leaving for these four days unless they receive prior written permission from the Office of Residential Life. 1 The term “residence hall” in this Agreement includes on-campus residence halls and Brown-leased off- campus properties (i.e., ▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇, 257 ▇▇▇▇▇▇ Street, River House, 95 Lofts, Chestnut Commons, and the Omni Providence Hotel leased by ▇▇▇▇▇). G. C. D. Residence halls will be closed from 12:00pm on Thursday, December 22, 2022 through 8am on Saturday, January 21, 2023. During this winter break period, only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms. E. All non-graduating students must vacate their room within 24 hours of their last final examination but no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 2120, 2022 (whichever is sooner), unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.Life.1 D. Returning students may occupy their rooms beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22August 30, 20222025. B. C. Only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms before their approved move-in date. Students who arrive to campus to move in earlier than their approved arrival date (either the move-in date established in this Agreement or the date on which they were approved to arrive in writing by the Office of Residential Life) without prior authorization accept their room condition as is and is, waive any expectation that the room has been cleaned and inspected prior to occupancy, and accept daily Unauthorized Arrival fees, calculated as the number of days between the date of their arrival and the date upon which they were approved to arrive in writing by the Office of Residential Life. C. D. Residence halls will be closed from 12:00pm on Sunday, December 21, 2025 until 9am on Saturday, January 17, 2026. During this winter break period, only students authorized in writing by the Office of Residential Life may occupy their rooms. E. All non-graduating students must vacate their room within 24 hours of their last final examination but no later than 12:00pm on Saturday, May 2116, 2026 (whichever is sooner), unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 F. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00 pm on Monday, May 25, 2026 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life. D. Graduating seniors must vacate their room no later than 12:00pm on Monday, May 30, 2022 following Commencement, unless they are otherwise granted an extension in writing beyond that original date by the Office of Residential Life.1 E. G. Extensions to these dates of occupancy, including occupancy during the winter break period, may result in additional daily charges of $39 per day being applied to the student’s account in accordance with the Residential Life Policies and Rules. Students who remain in housing outside the dates of occupancy without prior approval from the Office of Residential Life are subject to daily Unauthorized Occupancy Fees, referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, and/or termination of this Agreement. F. H. Students who receive extensions to their dates of occupancy at the end of the Spring 2026 semester may be required to relocate to a temporary assignment for the extended housing period. Failure to comply with relocation requirements from the Office of Residential Life may result in referral to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, the student receiving daily Unauthorized Occupancy Fines, and/or termination of this Agreement. I. Students who withdraw, take a leave of absence, or are suspended suspended, or expelled from the University must vacate their rooms within 24 hours after such withdrawal, leave, suspension, leave, or expulsion becomes effectivetakes effect. G. J. Students who maintain their Fall 2021 2025 room assignment into the Spring 2022 2026 semester, and who keep their personal items in their room between the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters, but do not return for the Spring 2022 2026 semester will be charged the applicable room charge for the Spring 2022 2026 semester. Prorated room credits may be given based on the student's Date of Withdrawal under the Spring 2026 schedule contained in this Agreement. 1 The term “vacate” in this Agreement means that the Spring 2022 Housing Agreementstudent has emptied the entire room, suite or apartment (if applicable), corridor, and building of their person and items.
