Common use of Deductions and Remittance Clause in Contracts

Deductions and Remittance. A. During the term of this Agreement, the University will deduct PBA dues and other authorized deductions in an amount established by the PBA and certified in writing by the President of the Florida Police Benevolent Association to the University from employees' pay for those employees who individually make such request on the deduction form provided by the PBA included as Appendix B. Such deductions will be made by the University when other payroll deductions are made and will begin with the pay for the first full pay period following receipt of the authorization by the University. B. Where an employee has been suspended or dismissed and subsequently returned to work with full or partial back pay, the University shall deduct the PBA membership dues that are owing for the period for which the employee receives back pay. Dues deduction will be resumed for such employees and those employees who return from unpaid leave. C. The PBA shall advise the University of any increase in dues or other authorized deductions in writing at least thirty (30) days prior to its effective date. D. This Article applies only to the deduction of membership dues and uniform assessments, if any, and shall not apply to the collection of any fines, penalties, or special assessments. E. The University will not be required to process Dues Deductions Authorization Forms that are: (1) incorrectly and/or incompletely filled out; (2) postdated; or (3) submitted to the University more than sixty (60) days following the date of the employee's signature.
