DEPARTMENT COORDINATORS. There shall be established throughout the district the following department positions based on the following criteria: Secondary Building Coordinators: 10.1 Prior to June 1 of each school year the Principals of the buildings housing grades 6-7, 8- 9, and the senior high school teaching staffs working in each of the following areas shall confer and select a department coordinator for the following school year in each building: A. Business (10 - 12) B. English (one each in 6-7, 8-9, 10-12) C. Foreign Language (district-wide coordinator) D. High School Coordinator (combined area) E. Mathematics (one each in 6-7, 8-9, 10-12) F. Middle School Coordinator (combined areas, one each in 6-7, 8-9) G. Science (one each in 6-7, 8-9, 10-12) H. Social Studies (one each in 6-7, 8-9, 10-12) I. Special Education (district-wide coordinator) 10.2 The responsibilities of department coordinators shall be: A. To communicate and be a liaison between the department and the administration. B. Reevaluate departmental curriculum and procedures yearly and make suggestions for change to the building administrator and the District Development Team. C. Be aware of new texts, equipment, materials, etc., and relay the information to the staff of the department. D. Budget and coordinate orders for the department. Keep inventory of texts and equipment.
DEPARTMENT COORDINATORS. 8.3.1 The Employer has the right to designate from time to time department coordinators to coordinate the work of other employees while in the performance of his/her assigned duties. 8.3.2 Department coordinators are defined in the contract as designated persons who coordinate the operation of a department or location within a department. 8.3.3 The purpose of a department coordinator is to coordinate work of other employees while remaining responsible for their work. For example, a department coordinator painter might oversee and coordinate the work of the students hired as summer painters. The department maintenance coordinator may also transmit information from a supervisor in the absence of the supervisor. 8.3.4 Department coordinators shall have no power to supervise, discipline, evaluate, reward or assign other employees or to direct their work (other than indirectly through instruction given by supervisors) or to adjust their grievances or to otherwise act as a supervisor as that term is defined in Section 301 of the Public Employee Relations Act. 8.3.5 Job descriptions for specific department coordinators will be created and disseminated from time-to-time. 8.3.6 Employees designated as department coordinators shall receive an additional hourly stipend in the amount of $3.58, in addition to their regular hourly rate, during the time worked as such. 8.3.7 The overtime rate for employees who work as department coordinators during hours providing services to community groups which reimburse the Employer for expenses shall be one and one half (1 1/2) times the rate paid to the employees while working as department coordinators. 8.3.8 Full-time Secretary A Elementary School Secretaries shall be entitled to Department Coordinator compensation for the first three hours of each workday
DEPARTMENT COORDINATORS. All coordinators must be certified within their specific teaching discipline. The District retains the sole right to appoint and remove Department Coordinators when it deems it appropriate to do so. Vacancies will be posted in accordance with Section 602. Coordinator remuneration will be part of the E.D.R. schedule.

DEPARTMENT COORDINATORS. Department coordinators: Each department at the 6-12 grade levels, including but not limited to Science, Math, Foreign Language, Humanities, the Arts, and PE/ Health will elect a department coordinator to lead the department in conversations about vertical alignment, best practices, curricular needs, budgets, and other department wide concerns. Each department coordinator will receive a stipend of $1000.

The high school Department Coordinator (“DC”) must be a certified teacher who will assist the building Principal, Assistant Principals and Pre-K to 12 Curriculum Coordinators in implementing the established district/school/department goals. B. This position is a three-year appointment, subject to annual review, that is intended to support teachers by facilitating professional development/curriculum, coordinating the management and operation of the department, and assisting in the supervision and observation of their departmental teachers.

Elementary schools will maintain 4 core-curriculum chairs and 1 other chair. 10.2 The responsibilities of department coordinators shall be: A. To communicate and be a liaison between the department and the administration. B. Reevaluate departmental curriculum and procedures yearly and make suggestions for change to the building administrator and the District Development Team. C. Be aware of new texts, equipment, materials, etc., and relay the information to the staff of the department. D. Budget and coordinate orders for the department. Keep inventory of texts and equipment. E. Hold department meetings on a regularly scheduled basis, not to conflict with staff meetings or professional development times. F. Be available to assist departmental members in solving instructional and other problems as they arise and to recommend personnel to help orient new teachers. G. Attend professional meetings in department's subject areas and make recommendations for visitations and professional meetings for teachers within the department. H. Work with the administration and other department coordinators on general school problems. Seek to coordinate all departments in order to best satisfy the needs of all students in our schools. J. ▇▇▇▇▇ be responsible for keeping department records and minutes of all meetings and seeing they are distributed to all concerned personnel. Meeting agenda logs will be submitted to building administration prior to May 1. K. Shall be a member of the building School Development Team.

Any special education and speech teachers hired after July 1, 1989 shall receive no such stipends.
