Management will give all due consideration to the length of service at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, leadership and work abilities, and seniority of each candidate. It is understood that Management will give each candidate the same consideration, but will retain the right of choice.
(a) If the Union is unable to supply a qualified candidate, Management retains the right to appoint an individual to the position.
8.06 The hiring of seasonal Heads of Department will follow the procedure outlined in Section 8.05. During the non-Festival period when there are departments without permanent Heads, or when the permanent Head of Department is not working for any reason, when required by Management, the replacement Head of Department will be chosen by the Business Agent. Management will retain the right of refusal, subject to grievance procedure. Management shall retain the right to appoint a seasonal department head position in the manner outlined in Section 8.05 for any project where the work of that department is not filled 20 hours or more in a timely fashion through the preceding proceduresone week. When each seasonal Head of Department is selected, the Board may appoint worker will be provided with a description of his/her responsibilities.
8.07 In no event will any member of any local of I.A.T.S.E. be consulted by Management concerning the filling of any position covered by this Agreement without first notifying the Business Agent of I.A.T.S.E. Local 906A in writing.

Department Heads. A. Teachers who serve as Department Heads for the areas of English, math, science, social studies and foreign language, for grades nine through twelve (9-12), shall receive the sums set forth below over and above their base salary for their services for the school year: Base stipend of $1,750 with $100 additional for each department member evaluated by the Department Head. Teachers who serve as Department Heads for the so-called "Clustered Departments": Guidance (guidance and adjustment counselors, nurse) Fine Arts and Technology (music/art, industrial technology, computers, business) Student services (special education, school psychologist) Wellness (PE, health, consumer science) Base stipend of $1,750 with an additional $100 for each member of the "cluster" that the Department Head is qualified to evaluate and so evaluates. The building principal shall determine if the Department Head is qualified to evaluate a particular member of the cluster.
B. The decision to create or continue the position of department head in a particular department or area or to change an established position shall be the prerogative of the Superintendent or his/her designee. Appropriate job descriptions for each established position shall be formulated by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
C. Department heads shall normally be tenured and hold the rank relieved of Associate Professor or Professor in one of the departments to be servedtheir teaching duties on four (4) days during each school year, unless mutually agreed to as determined by the departmental faculty and administrationbuilding principal, for the purpose of evaluating the teachers in their respective departments. The building principal shall formulate appropriate procedures to implement the provisions of this paragraph.
3.1.2.1 When it becomes known that a D. Department heads shall be given an opportunity to interview and recommend applicants for positions in their respective departments. In such instances, department head position heads shall make their recommendations to the building principal.
E. Careful consideration will become vacant, or if be given by the building principal to the recommendations of department head position has already become vacant, or if a new department is created, the ▇▇▇▇ of the college shall meet heads who are requested to prepare departmental budgets. Department heads who are so requested will be afforded reasonable opportunity to discuss with the department faculty within two (2) weeks to discuss qualifications and expectations for the position.
