Disclosures for Specific Purposes. Upon request, each QHIN shall disclose information to the Participants, Participant Members, and other entities described below for the following purposes to the extent permitted by or required by Applicable Law: (i) reporting of EHR-related adverse events, hazards, and other unsafe conditions to government agencies, accrediting bodies, patient safety organizations, or other public or private entities that are specifically engaged in patient quality or safety initiatives; (ii) participating in cyber threat sharing activities; and (iii) identifying security flaws in the operation of the QHIN that would not otherwise fall into subsection (ii). Participants and Participant Members that are Covered Entities or Business Associates should consider their obligations under the HIPAA Rules before further Disclosing EHI for these purposes.
