Distribution of Shifts. When an Open Shift (excluding vacations) becomes available, the shift will be offered to full-time employees on a rotational basis based on current seniority. If the shift is offered and accepted, the full-time employee will work the offered shift. If the full-time employee refuses the offer or if the employee could not be reached, the next full-time employee will be offered the open shift until it is taken or the rotation takes it back to the first full- time employee offered the shift. When all full-time employees have been offered and refused the Open Shift or if the employee could not be reached, part-time employees will be offered the Open Shift in the same manner as full-time employees in accordance with their part-time seniority. When another Open Shift becomes available the shift will be offered to the next full-time employee based on current seniority after the employee who accepted the Open Shift and the process outlined above shall be repeated. For the purpose of vacation, these shifts will be deemed open shifts and the Employer will fill the vacation request as follows: ▪ Any vacation requested by an employee less than four weeks from the first date of commencement of the vacation period requested will be offered to part-time employees first and then to full-time employees. ▪ Any vacation requested by an employee greater than four weeks from the first date of commencement of the vacation period requested will be offered to full-time employees first and then to part-time employees. Where a shift or shifts become open that were previously filled by a regular full-time employee by virtue of illness or leave of absence, and it is expected that the employee will be absent for a period exceeding six (6) weeks, the first six (6) weeks of absence shall be considered Open Shifts and filled in accordance with this Article. After six (6) weeks, the Employer may fill the shift with the senior most part-time employee based on current seniority. Such appointment will preclude full-time employment or health benefits except as provided for under Article 27 for the assigned part-time employee and will cease upon the regular full-time employee’s return to work. Employees will provide the Supervisor with their contact phone numbers for the purpose of being called for Open Shifts.

4) This procedure will be followed for each open shift that becomes available.
5) The rotational basis utilized will be the call-in list established by the current scheduling software utilizing the last timestamp method.
(b) Any vacation requested by an employee greater than four weeks from the first date of commencement of the vacation period requested will be offered to full-time employees first in accordance with a) above and then to part-time employees. .
(c) Where a shift or shifts become open that were previously filled by a regular full-time employee by virtue of illness or leave of absence, and it is expected that the employee will be absent for a period exceeding six (6) weeks, the first six (6) weeks of absence shall be considered Open Shifts and filled in accordance with this Article. After six (6) weeks, the Employer may fill the shift with the most senior most part-time employee based on current seniority. Such appointment will preclude not infer full-time employment or health benefits except as provided for under Article 27 clauses 21.03, 22.02, and 26.04 for the assigned part-time employee and employee. The appointment will cease upon the regular full-time employee’s return to work. .
(d) Employees will provide the Supervisor with their contact phone numbers for the purpose purposes of being called for Open Shifts.
