The parties anticipate that the Chief and/or Assistant Chief, and/or Duty Officer will reasonably divide his time as Chief and/or Assistant Chief, and/or Duty Officer between Penryn and Newcastle as the duties and responsibilities of each district require. This includes sharing time at the physical location of the fire station in each District. Both parties understand that there will be times when one district re- quires more of the Chief’s and/or Assistant Chief, and/or Duty Officer’s attention than the other.

Division of Service. The parties anticipate that the Fire Chief will reasonably divide his/her time between City and River Delta as such as will not negatively impact the Fire Chief’s services to City. This includes sharing time at the physical location of the fire station in each agency and is anticipated to be between two to five hours per week, not including after-hours work and incident response. Both parties understand that there will be times when City requires more of the Fire Chief’s attention. Duty Officer responsibilities are strictly for incidents in River Delta and may consist of an “Acting” Battalion Chief, full-time paid Captain or Fire Chief's response for Incident Command. The Duty Officer may also be consulted on staffing issues, however, it is anticipated the staffing issues will be predominately handled by the on-duty River Delta crew.
