Common use of Earned Time Clause in Contracts

Earned Time. Earned time is an alternative approach to the traditional manner of covering absence for vacation, personal time, sick leave, and military leave. Instead of dividing benefits into a specific number of hours for each benefit, Earned Time puts those hours together into a single benefit. Earned Time hours can be used for a variety of purposes, including a payment in cash at the time of voluntary termination. Earned Time is available as soon as it is “earned”. The exact number of Earned Time hours available each year will depend on the years of service to the Town. NOTE: Worker’s Compensation is not affected by Earned Time.
