Common use of Excess Travelling and Fares Clause in Contracts

Excess Travelling and Fares. An employee who is required to work away from the normal workshop or depot will present for work at the usual starting time, and be paid • travelling time for all time reasonably spent travelling to and from that job (in excess of the normal travel time between home and work) and • fares reasonably incurred in excess of those normally incurred in travelling between home and work. With the employer’s approval, an employee who uses private transport to travel to or from an outside job will be paid for the excess fares that would have been incurred using public transport, unless the employee has an arrangement with the employer for a regular allowance.
