EXTRADITION Clause Samples

The Extradition clause establishes the legal framework under which one jurisdiction agrees to surrender an individual to another jurisdiction for prosecution or punishment for crimes committed outside its territory. Typically, this clause outlines the conditions, procedures, and limitations for extradition, such as the types of offenses covered and any exceptions (for example, political crimes or cases where the individual may face unfair treatment). Its core practical function is to facilitate international or inter-jurisdictional cooperation in criminal matters, ensuring that individuals cannot evade justice simply by crossing borders.
